Suppressing Voter

Editor, News-Register: As President Trump has made an entirely baseless claim, which unfortunately has been his forte, that widespread mail-in voting (as a result of COVID-19 concerns) would result in “the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history,” he has, among other recommendations, proposed to somehow delay the upcoming election. He, as president, has no authority to personally implement that idea, as every presidential election is statutorially established by Congress, which has been the case since 1845, and only Congress, if it so chooses, can change it. Editor, News-Register: Jenny Craig is the president of the Ohio County Education Association, the larger of the two local teacher unions. Recently she has been advocating on every local media outlet, be it print, radio, or television, that our kids should not be in school for at least the first nine weeks, and all education should be entirely on-line. Editor, News-Register: As the election approaches, there is an erroneous but widely held opinion that Catholics must vote for Donald Trump because he said, “I am pro-life.” But if Trump were really pro-life, he would not have tried to repeal and continuously undermine the Affordable Care Act.
