Editor, News-Register: As a beginning music promoter I was delighted to see a great turnout for the America concert held on July 2 at The Capitol Theatre in downtown Wheeling. About 1,200 fans were in attendance and were treated to a fantastic show. America played for over 90 minutes and Hoard & Jones, the opening act, for 30 minutes. Compensate America’s Veterans

Editor, News-Register: In 2022 a totally disabled veteran with no dependents is compensated at the ridiculous rate of $39,984.72 dollars annually. The National Average Wage Index for 2020 was $55,628.60 per annum and the median income for 2020 was $67,521. The per capita GDP in 2020 was $63,416, among the highest in the world. Editor, News-Register: Beware of the proposed Homeless Low Barrier Shelter! They hired a Homeless Liaison, Melissa Adams, who is not accountable to us citizens. She is proposing a $20,000,000 building, with $700,000 initial planning and development, $15,000,000 for the first three years which does not include the salaries and maintenance. Editor, News-Register: When I read that President Biden was considering enacting Medicare negotiation to reduce inflation, I was very upset. While the president has argued that this measure will lower prescription costs and decrease inflation, the reality is more complicated. Editor, News-Register: The May 21, 2022, article in The Intelligencer titled “Hope Scholarship Could Cost Ohio County Schools More Than $500,000” implies this legislation may result in “the eventual loss of enrollment and teachers.” The numbers tell a different story. Data from the U.S. Department of Education reports that total funding for Ohio County Public Schools in 2018-19 was $74,495,000, or $14,114 per student.
