Russ and Jean Schwertfeger of Bethany will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary today, Nov. 22, with their family.They were united in marriage Nov. 22, 1950, at Christ United Methodist Church, Wheeling.Jean Schwertfeger is the daughter of the late Corrine Gordon of Wheeling. Nancy and John Proellochs Sr. of Wellsburg celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 15.They were united in marriage on Oct. 15, 1955.They have four children, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.The family celebrated with a gathering in Mount Hope, W.Va., near the New River Gorge Bridge.

Straubs Celebrate 65th Anniversary

Raymond and Delores (Bauman) Straub of Sardis will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 12.They were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1950.Ray Straub is the son of the late Fred and Freda Straub. Along with his father and brothers, he did custom machine work and grain threshing for many farmers and served his country as a U.S. Marine. He retired from Conalco and as an agent and director from German Farmers Mutual Insurance. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Denham of Wheeling celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Oct. 27.They were married on Oct. 27, 1945, in Stone Presbyterian Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Martin L. Gerhardt officiating.Clifford Denham is the son of Doretta and Wilber Denham. He is retired as the transportation director of Ohio County Schools after 37 years.
