WHEELING - The Ohio County Board of Education has decided to keep Superintendent Kim Miller on the job for the next four years.
The board on Monday night unanimously approved a four-year extension to Miller's contract. The agreement remains mostly the same, but does give her an extra five days of vacation each year - for a total of 25.
Miller's current rate of pay is $185,953 annually, and is subject to a cost of living increase each year of 2.5%.
The contract extension begins July 1 and extends through June 30, 2028.
"We are very excited to have as our leader Dr. Miller," said board president Andy Garber. "She has done a fantastic job as superintendent. It took us so long in there (during a half-hour executive session) because we were going over her accolades.
"She got us through COVID. She got us through (a $42.2 million construction) bond and well levies, as well as two teacher stoppages."
Garber noted a number of grants Miller secured during her tenure, and that test scores have improved.
"All those things are very attributable to her leadership, and we are very happy to have her for the next four years," he added.
Miller then thanked the board for what she called "an amazing opportunity."
"For as fantastic as the job is, it certainly has a lot of challenging moving pieces," she continued. "We are fortunate to have board members who are there to support initiatives in the direction in which we are moving.
"I am so grateful for this opportunity. I am very excited to work with my team and continue moving forward. I promise you we will continue to do everything we can to move the county forward."
Miller has served as superintendent of Ohio County Schools since July 2016.
