WHEELING -- The success of the Hampton Inn Wheeling has caught the eye of the Hilton brand and earned the hotel a feature in the 2023 Global Owners Conference in Las Vegas.

The conference, hosting more than 5,000 guests, will take place at the end of August. At the event, the Hampton Inn Wheeling will feature in one of the video portraits presented of exemplary Hilton brand locations.

The companies ClippsTV and ThinkUp are working on behalf of Hampton by Hilton to interview the staff that makes up the core of hospitality that drives successful Hampton locations. Michael Allard, the co-owner of Think Up, explained that finding out why the hotel was at the top of the Hilton brand was critical for them.

The sincere character of the hotel is what Juergen Biefang, the CEO of ClippsTV, says he wants to capture. The video production agency is interviewing the staff of the Hampton Inn Wheeling, who they believe to be at the core of hospitality at the hotel.

The hotel is no stranger to awards, as the Hampton Inn Wheeling has received eight Connie Awards over the past 10 years, an accolade given to the best hotel within each branch of the Hilton family of hotels. These awards helped earn the hotel a feature at the event.

The large conference seemed far removed from the hotel on Wednesday, where the cozy atmosphere and heartfelt service of the employees demonstrated the earnest personality of the hotel that has been a key to the Hampton Inn Wheeling's success.

As the video production crew set up their equipment in the lobby, customers enjoyed breakfast, and the staff carried on with business as usual. Despite the disruption, no guests were neglected, displaying the service that brought the crew to the hotel.

The crew stayed at the hotel Tuesday and Wednesday night, conducting interviews with employees and spending the rest of their time enjoying the environment of Wheeling.

Biefang and his crew hope to find the "special something" that has won Hampton Inn Wheeling so many awards.

"There are very few hotels we're singling out, and eight Connie Awards, you don't get that overnight," Biefang said.

The crew will create video portraits for successful Hampton hotels across the globe which will be featured at the conference. The crew started in Turkey, with the Hampton Inn Wheeling being the first of three U.S. Hampton hotels the crew will visit.

Biefang says what made the Wheeling location stand out on a global scale is its overwhelming success in both customer reviews and sales results.

Biefang explains there are a variety of ways for hotels in the Hilton Brand to exhibit the authentic personality that customers want to experience.

The authenticity of Hampton Inn Wheeling is found in interactions with the staff that goes beyond a simple "Hello" and "How are you?" Biefang says interactions at the hotel between staff and customers are unique, with no set script, which displays the genuine personality that has caught the attention of the Hilton brand globally.

Biefang believes genuine interaction is what sets Hampton Inn Wheeling apart.

"The staff here really mean what they say," he said. "To be authentic you have to actually open your heart and open your personality and mean it. That is what the people do here."

Jack Poling, the general manager of Hampton Inn Wheeling, was thrilled that the hotel was receiving global recognition.

"It's very exciting, it's a great thing to be a part of," Poling said. "This recognition shows it doesn't matter where you are and that you can do great things anywhere."
