CAMERON - A weeklong delay to the West Virginia playoffs seemed to have only allowed time for the Cameron Dragons to store up explosive energy for their homestand against the Valley Lumberjacks.
No. 4 Cameron (10-1) sped past No. 13 Valley (7-3) 62-0 at Dragon Stadium on Friday, advancing to play the winner of Wirt County and Doddridge County next weekend at a date and time to be announced.
Klypsan Wallace ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns while Slaton Pettit ran for 130 and a score as the Dragons totaled 424 yards on the ground.
Cameron's Mason Scott started the scoring at the 8:12 mark of the first quarter after he ran a pick-six eight yards for a touchdown.
Wallace scored on a 10 yard run just before the end of the first quarter to give Cameron a 14-0 lead.
The Dragons extended their lead midway through the second quarter as Kason Angel found Soyer Reed from 15 yards out.
Angel finished his day completing three of five passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Reed was his top target with 26 yards and the score.
Wallace struck again, this time on a 50-yard run to paydirt to extend the hosts' lead to 26-0. Angel then scored on a seven-yard run at the 5:20 mark. Hunter Wright's PAT kick was good & the Dragons extended their lead to 33-0.
Cameron added another score before halftime as freshmen Talen Brown recovered a Valley fumble in the end zone. The two-point conversion run was successful & the Dragons took a 41-0 lead into the half.
Pettit added a nine-yard touchdown run in the third quarter while Brown scored his second touchdown of the night, this time from 18 yards out. Freshmen Kale Winters closed out the scoring on a three-yard plunge in the fourth.
It was the 59th meeting between the two schools and their first ever meeting in the post season. Cameron leads the series 35-24.
