Senior Center Needed

Editor, News-Register: I get it that young family residents are needed in Wheeling, but it’s often the older people who are spending lots of money and doing charity work in the area. Since there is a surplus of money, how about building Wheeling a state of the art Senior Center. I have lived all over the U.S., and most communities of this size have senior centers. Reopen the Manchester Bridge

Editor, News-Register: Well Mr. Mayor, Gov. Jim Justice announced that there is money available for bridges that are not owned by the state, something like $500 million. What Does Trump Have to Hide?

Editor, News-Register: It has been reported that former president Donald Trump recently dined with perhaps the most unabshed and influential, self-proclaimed, anti-semite and white supremacist in our nation, Nick Fuentes, who, among other things, has stated that the holocaust did not occur, and has suggested that lawmakers who voted to certify that the 2020 presidential election that was lawfully won by President Joe Biden “should be executed,” and has incredibly referred to Mr. Trump as one of the greatest Americans who has ever lived.  The dinner was reportedly arranged by ...

Wearing White After Labor Day

Editor, News-Register: I’m writing to thank Mr. Bill Bryant for regularly providing me many, many laugh out loud moments. Mr. Bryant regularly and predictably unleashes venom filled diatribes accusing the former President of committing every crime in the world except the kidnapping of the ...

Our criminal laws distinguish between sexual assault and sexual abuse. A spouse committing sexual assault against the other spouse can be prosecuted for that, but when a spouse ...

Homeless Night Before Christmas

Editor, News-Register: Twas the night before Christmas and all through the streets Many were hovering under tiny tents made of sheets The homeless were curled up on the cold hard ground Neither a warm meal nor pillow for their heads to be found No stockings are hung by a chimney with care Besides a few items their homemade tents are bare No bright lights twinkle on a Christmas tree Just a glimmer of moonlight through a tear, I see What they would give for a mere Christmas blessing Rather than lying alone in the cold, trembling So, for those of us warm and snug in ...
