It's nice to see where Julia Chaplin feels as I do about council spending, spending and then spending some more while looking for ways to spend some more.
Why should we subsidize a private developer? Where do all of these potential leasers for apartments come from? This is a state, city and county that is losing population.
Are all of our parking garages being utilized to the fullest?
Also, while I agree police could use more room, there has to be a better way to go than spending a small fortune on the OVMC building. Their dreams of downtown Wheeling ever coming back are just that, dreams.
Some day with all this spending, things are apt to come crashing down. Why should taxpayer be responsible for aiding private developers? We almost have enough parking space in public garages for a space for every citizen in Wheeling.
Enough is enough.
