Valley Taking to the Road

By BUBBA KAPRAL PINE GROVE — The Valley Lumberjacks will be road warriors during the early portion of their baseball schedule. Coach Jeremy Bucher’s charges will play their first nine games on the road. Valley will not welcome an opponent to Pine Grove until April 3 when Paden City comes a calling. Colby Bohrer will start at first base. He can also play all infield and outfield positions while also handling some mound duties. Bucher noted that Bohrer batted .628 last year with seven home runs. Lumberjills Looking For Improvement

By BUBBA KAPRAL PINE GROVE — The Valley Lumberjills are striving for continued improvement this spring. Coach Gary Partridge’s inexperienced club won just two games last spring. Those two wins came on the heels of back-to-back winless campaigns. With a 16-player roster to work with, more wins are likely to come down the pike this season. Partridge lost Grace Berry, Maggie Hornbeck, McKayla Mellott and Steska Strum to graduation.
