WHEELING — The Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia has always had a focus on children and this year is no different. “Debbie’s Dash”— a 100-yard dash is for children ages 9 and younger. This event is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Heritage Port, with registration   from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday or on Friday evening from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There is a $3 entry fee, and shirts and pizza are guaranteed to the first 150 registered. The Green Mile Pays Tribute to Military Personnel

WHEELING — The  Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia includes the “Green Mile,” a 1-mile race that starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at Heritage Port. The Green Mile will be run in honor of the United State military veterans, past and present, and those who paid the ultimate         sacrifice. “We can never thank them enough,” said race coordinate Ron Green. Reason for Race Is Clear: Helping Kids Fight Cancer

Three area children who have been battling childhood cancers will be the stars of this year’s  Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia. They and their families will be aided by the funds raised at this year’s race. Hayden Hughes of Moundsville is the 9-year-old son of Tyler and Samantha Hughes. WHEELING — The 2016 Debbie Green Memorial 5K will include the Undo’s Fitness 5K Team Challenege concept again this year. The team format is wide open with teams consisting of any groups of people who want to compete on the same team. Males, females, children, walkers and runners of all ages can form a team and compete in this year’s event. The bigger the team the better! Health, Fitness Expo Planned for 2017

In 2017, the Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia will celebrate its 20th year on the weekend of Aug. 4-5. And in his usual gung-ho style, race director Ron Green will mark the occasion in new and exciting ways. First, there will be a kick-off steak fry on July 29, 2017, on the ice rink at Wheeling Park.
