BARNESVILLE -- The game plan for the Barnesville boys' basketball team, according to first-year head coach Shane Stephens, is an easy one for the Shamrocks this season.
"I think the goal for this season is plain and simple, win more games and earn respect," he stressed. "We return a very deep, talented and experienced group of players that feel they have something to prove."
That list is dotted with football players who just finished another excellent season and, for some, careers.
Leading that group are seniors Duker Castello, Luke Detling and Taison Starr; along with juniors Cam Carpenter and Casey Carpenter.
Also returning for another season are seniors Asa Geilinger, Ben Holskey, Aydon VanHorn and Jack Phillips.
The varsity roster is completed by junior Braedon Willis and sophomore Ryker Willis.
Geilinger, Starr, Braedon Willis and both Carpenters lettered last season.
Lost to graduation was John Blizzard.
"We have high expectations for this season," the coach stressed. "I believe the team is committed to accomplishing something special and memorable."
Stephens is assisted by Hunter Carpenter, Jamie Carpenter and Matt Johnson. Jamie Carpenter is a former girls head coach at Barnesville, while Johnson coached the Shamrocks boys' varsity.
