With an infection rate of 88.66 per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 8.65, Ohio County remained in the red on Tuesday’s West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ COVID-19 map.
Marshall County remained red as well, with an infection rate of 97.32 and a percent positivity of 10.66. The rates in both counties are based on a seven-day rolling average.
Statewide, there were 23 new deaths reported Tuesday, bringing the total to 758 since the pandemic began in March. Those deaths ranged in age from the mid-50s to the late 90s.
Among those cases were a 99-year-old man from Marshall County and an 80-year old female from Hancock County, according to the DHHR. Marshall County on Monday also reported a second death of an 80-year-old man.
