Gov. Jim Justice today said that Marshall County has asked the West Virginia National Guard for assistance in the form of a refrigerated truck as the county has seen 18 new COVID-19 deaths in the past two weeks.

The county has gone from 14 deaths on Nov. 23 to 32 deaths as of Monday.

The governor also announced Monday that the Northern Regional Jail and Northern Correctional Facility, both located in Moundsville, have a combined 205 active COVID-19 patients. Those positive COVID cases only count as one on the state’s COVID-19 county map, as they are isolated in one location.
