WHEELING — Early voting in West Virginia has ended, with about 19,000 in the Northern Panhandle casting early ballots.

Those still wanting to vote now must go to polls on Election Day. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m Tuesday.

Voters with outstanding absentee ballots still may hand deliver them to elections offices by the close of business on Monday.

If the absentee ballot is being mailed, it must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 3, and received by the start of canvass on Nov. 9.

— Ohio County saw 410 early vote on Saturday, and a total of 4,872 in-person ballots submitted since early voting began Oct. 1. The county has received about the same total of absentee ballots so far.

Voting there still was brisk but polls weren't as busy as they were on Friday, when 564 submitted ballots.

"We weren't crazy busy," said Toni Chieffalo, coordinator of elections. "Yesterday was our busiest day."

Chieffalo admitted she really didn't expect to see so many cast early ballots.

"I guess I didn't think about how important an election it was," she said. "It did make for a lot of extra work this time."

Chieffalo expects voting to be "steady" on Tuesday.

"If we can get another 5,000 to come out on Election Day, that will be a good turnout," she said. There are just over 30,000 registered voters in Ohio County.

— Marshall County saw 4,030 cast in-person ballots during early voting season, with 409 coming on Saturday.

— Brooke County reported 2,723 early voters, and 271 — about 10 percent of them — casting ballots on the last day.

— Wetzel County saw a total of 1,729 cast early ballots, and 171 of them on Saturday.

— Tyler County’s early vote number was 1,149. The county had 126 vote on the last day.
