2 More COVID-Related Deaths in Marshall County

The Marshall County Health Department reported two more COVID-19-related deaths Wednesday evening, bringing the county's overall total to 25.

Wednesday's announcement included the deaths of a 70-year-old man who was hospitalized at the time of his death and an 85-year-old woman who was the resident of a long-term care facility at the time of her death.

That announcement comes a day after Marshall County reported seven deaths, all of whom were long-term care facility residents.

The department also announced 13 new confirmed positive cases and 10 new probable cases. That brings the county's totals to 978 confirmed cases, 155 probable cases, 11 hospitalizations and 25 associated deaths.

The entire Northern Panhandle remained in high-risk categories on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources' daily COVID-19 alert map. Marshall County was in "red," the state's most at-risk category, while Hancock, Brooke and Ohio counties were in "orange," the second-most at-risk category.

Marshall County had an infection rate of 89.84 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 8.30. Ohio County had an infection rate of 97.97 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 7.34.

Hancock County had an infection rate of 79.83 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 6.29. Brooke County, which spent one day in "red" on Monday before moving back to "orange," had an infection rate of 97.67 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 7.08.
