WHEELING — Ohio County is hanging on to its gold COVID-19 status as students prepare to return to the classroom next week.
As of Thursday’s 10 a.m. map, Ohio County is averaging 14.49 cases per 100,000 residents on the state’s rolling seven-day average. If that number reaches 15 the county will go orange, meaning all instruction will be remote and sports essentially will be halted.
Also Thursday, Monongalia County got out of its red designation and turned orange. Kanawha County is now the state’s only red county in terms of COVID-19 numbers.
In red counties, all sports are cancelled and all instruction is virtual.
