It seems that although the Farmers’ Almanac states the autumn season officially begins on Sept. 22, meteorologists’ fall season began Sept. 1. Strand Theatre to Show ‘Fools’ Parade’ Tonight

MOUNDSVILLE — Many folks around town like to share stories from 1970, which was a special year for Moundsville — the year that Hollywood hit the town’s streets for the filming of the movie “Fools’ Parade.” The Strand Theatre will feature this piece of Moundsville’s history with a showing of the movie at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 6. Everyone is invited to come watch the story unfold in a setting where viewers will see many local landmarks. Doors open 30 minutes before show time. Price for admission is $7. Tickets will be available at the door.

The summer season is winding down despite what the thermometer says. Schools have started up again much sooner than when I was a kid. Going back to classes was always the day after Labor Day for my generation. And yes, it was still pretty hot those first few weeks of school, but then fall crept in and winter followed.
