BARTON -- Polka music will fill the air once again in Barton, Ohio.

The Barton Vol. Fire Department will hold the 31st Annual Barton Polkafest on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Firemen's Field at 52176 Barton-Blaine Road in Barton (for GPS directions, use St. Clairsville, Ohio as the address).

In keeping with tradition, this festival will offer barbecue chicken, cabbage roll dinners, Polish platters, other homemade Polish foods, desserts, a cash bar, raffles, European folk art, Vino di Piccin wine slushies, shuttle service and the Ice Cream Island food truck on site.

Barton Polkafest T-shirts will be sold. No BYOB or coolers will be permitted.

The event will be held rain or shine. Gates open at 11 a.m., and there will be non-stop music from noon to 8 p.m., with three of the most requested polka bands around. Traveling from Buffalo, New York, will be the band Seven. Another crowd favorite from Canada will be John Gora and Gorale. And back by popular demand, Polka Family will make their way from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.

Admission is free. There is a covered pavilion and dance floor, and a handicapped-accessible bathroom facility on site. Carry-out parking and food will be available. A boot will be out for donations. All proceeds will benefit the building of a new fire station.
