Wheeling Island Showroom Is Rockin’ In the New Year

Full Weekend of Live Music, Celebrations in the Cards

WHEELING -- This entire weekend is packed with live music and special promotions as Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack says goodbye to 2023 and rings in the New Year in style.

Tonight, Friday, Dec. 29, the showroom at Wheeling Island welcomes the return of Thunderstruck: America's AC/DC Tribute. Doors open at 7 p.m., and show time is 8 p.m. Capturing the high voltage energy of both the Brian Johnson and Bon Scott eras of AC/DC, Thunderstruck: America's AC/DC Tribute tours the country and delivers an unforgettable salute to one of the greatest rock bands in history.

On Saturday night, Dec. 30, the smallest version of another one of the biggest rock bands on the planet will perform in the showroom at Wheeling Island. MINIKISS -- "the hottest little band in the world" takes the stage at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. This miniature version of KISS brings the live concert experience of makeup, costumes, theatrics and the timeless music of KISS to the stage for a larger-than-life show.

New Years Eve on Sunday, Dec. 31, will have a full slate of music on tap the help ring in the New Year. Local favorites Eli & the Mojo Kings will perform in the showroom from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. -- and admission is free to everyone! There will be other music and promotions throughout the day on Sunday, including DJ Daner starting at 9 p.m. outside the Aristocrat Gaming Lounge and Kyle Mac near the buffet -- both taking song requests and manning T-shirt throws all night, as well as announcing cash winners for various contests.

There will be food specials and fun all weekend long, including specials at The Pointe Restaurant, a New Year's Eve Buffet Special, live racing on Sunday afternoon with food trucks on the racing apron and a New Year's Day Brunch.

Celebrations will continue around the clock throughout the long holiday weekend, as Wheeling Island will be open 24 hours starting at 8 a.m. today, Friday, Dec. 29, through 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

There will be special gaming promotions and "hot seat" giveaways on table games and slot machines all weekend long. On Sunday for New Years Eve, a photo booth will be outside the showroom and a Party Pit will provide a photo backdrop to capture memories. Guests can visit the Island Stage, Party Pit, racing venue and other various locations on site for complimentary party favors from 10 p.m. to midnight on Dec. 31.
