MOUNDSVILLE -- The game of "Clue," along with the noir detective genre, is broadly parodied in Mystery Theatre Unlimited's original musical-comedy murder mystery, "Elliot Brick's Case of the Maltese Ferret."
The dinner theatre show will be presented at 6:30 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 15, at the Vue Bar and Grill in Grad Vue Park, Moundsville, and again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, at River City Restaurant, 1401 Main St., Wheeling.
In the show, the world's dumbest private detective, Elliot Brick, thinks he is on an ordinary domestic stakeout. Hired by suspicious widow Mrs. Whitebread to tail her husband-to-be, Mr. Greenjeans, Brick stumbles into the stately but creepy mansion of the ancient Mrs. Peacock-a-Doodle-Doo, where a strange assortment of guests have arrived, including her scheming niece Miss Scarletta, eccentric mercenary Colonel Dijon and a peculiar scientist named Professor Plumb-loco.
Before the night is through, someone is murdered in one of nine rooms by one of six weapons and by one of the survivors. Several popular songs are murdered, too. If that's not complicated enough, there is also the mystery of the hidden Maltese Ferret.
The cast includes Sean Decker as Professor Plumb-loco, Karissa Martin as Miss Scarletta, Dustin Heavilin as Colonel Dijon, Renee Storm as Mrs. Peacock-a-Doodle-Doo and Butch Maxwell as Elliot Brick. Evan Oslund is understudy for the production. Audience member will portray several other key characters, including Mrs. Whitebread and Mr. Greenjeans.
Written by Maxwell and Bert Furioli, the show blends broad comedy, farce, musical parodies and a murder mystery. Opportunities for audience participants are emphasized in this show, too.
