PADEN CITY -- Coach Alan Miller and his Paden City Wildcats will be looking to rebound from a six-win season a year ago.
They will have to do so without three-year starters Chelsea Baker and Madalyn Cox, who are both gone to graduation.
With just one senior on the current roster, there is no lack of youth on the court at Paden City.
"We have a young group but we have high expectations," Miller said. "We won one more game last year than we did the year before and I think we can improve this year and possibly win 10 games."
The schedule isn't doing Paden City any favors as it added Magnolia, St. Marys, Tyler Consolidated and Ritchie County to the upcoming slate.
Leading the Wildcats on to the floor will be junior captain Hannah Loy, who earned first-team Mason Dixon and all-state honorable mention with 12 points a game as a sophomore.
"Hannah led the team in scoring and assists last year," Miller said. "She was really enthused about summer league basketball and she is one of our captains and a leader."
Another junior captain for Paden City is returning starter Paige Leonard.
The lone senior is Breiona Henthorn, while Madison Knight rounds out the junior class.
Abbe Stackpole and Skylar Fulks make up the sophomore class and provide talent and a bright future for the program.
"This will be Abbe's second year starting for us," Miller said.
A trio of freshmen will try to do their part to help the Wildcats improve this year as Gabrielle Bolen, Erin McIntyre and Raven Fulks will look for playing time.
