PINE GROVE -- The Valley Lumberjacks will be road warriors during the early portion of their baseball schedule.
Coach Jeremy Bucher's charges will play their first nine games on the road. Valley will not welcome an opponent to Pine Grove until April 3 when Paden City comes a calling.
Colby Bohrer will start at first base. He can also play all infield and outfield positions while also handling some mound duties.
Bucher noted that Bohrer batted .628 last year with seven home runs. He did not strike out all season. He was a special mention all-state honoree and has inked a letter-of-intent to play baseball at Alderson Broaddus University.
Valley's other senior is Griffin Pigott. He will play second base while moving over to first when Bohrer is on the hill.
The junior class is a strong one.
Tyler Kocher returns at catcher after enjoying a banner sophomore campaign. He batted at a .333 clip while gunning down 28 base runners.
Ethan Greathouse is the Lumberjacks' mound ace. When not pitching, he will see time at either third or shortstop. He batted over .300 last season.
Caden Palmer is another returning starter. He will play right field, second base and pitch.
Ty Freed is back as the starting centerfielder. He will also be utilized at all the infield positions and pitch. He batted .250 last season.
Tyler Stoneking will be the starter in left field. He will also do some pitching.
Kyle Moore is another returning regular. He is a pitcher and infielder.
Valley has only two sophomores on its roster. Gavin Morris and George Brown are both ticketed for action in the outfield.
Two freshmen will provide instant impact for the Lumberjacks. Abe Saterfield will start at shortstop and will also see time on the mound.
Levi Anderson, meanwhile, will open in right field. He can also help at second base.
