NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Oak Glen baseball team lost eight seniors to graduation a year ago, but first-year head coach T.J. Osbon has seven seniors and a group of young athletes on this year's roster that he believes can step up and deliver a successful season on the diamond.
"There were some young guys who filled in last year and did very well," Osbon said. "All seven of our seniors on this club can contribute and the young guys can step up and do well. We have some experience coming into the season with a talented group of kids and with a good mix of veterans and young guys, we should have a good year."
Leading that group of pitchers in 2017 is senior Noah Feicht, along with sophomores Josh Cline and Garrett Brewer.
Other seniors joining Feicht include Lance Collins (2B/OF/P), Marques McHaffie (C/1B/P), Ty Logston (2B/OF), Robert Bozek (OF/2B), Jeff Rice (2B/1B) and Hayden Rice (1B,OF).
Outfielder Jake O'Brien is the lone junior on the roster.
The strong sophomore class consists of Blake Almo (SS/2B), Bryson Walls (SS/C/P), Jackson Chaney (2B/OF) and Julian Lamb (2B/OF).
The seven freshmen looking for playing time are Kaleb Dailey (P/OF/1B), Jonathon Creese (3B/1B), Zach Taylor (C/OF), Michael Lemley (SS/2B/OF/P), Alex Dilullo (OF), Connor Adams (3B/1B) and Chuckie Varner (OF).
