Barnesville Shamrocks Head coach: Kelsey Leach

2 min read

For the first time in a long time, the Barnesville Shamrocks' cheering team placed third at the OVAC Championship a year ago and will be looking to build off of that performance this year.

Led by first-year coach Kelsey Leach, the Shamrocks will attempt to place again with a very exciting routine.

"We have a very fun, action packed routine this year," Leach said.

"We have more tumbling then we have had in the past, so we are excited to bring a new element to the routine."

Choreographers for Barnesville are Shannon and Ayla Dombroski, while Leach has no assistant coaches on the squad.

"I have been the coach for all three squads this season," Leach said.

"For football, basketball and OVAC. Shannon and Ayla Dombroski are our choreographers and they have been excellent to work with. They bring a competitive spirit into practice and are always pushing the girls to achieve their best."

Making up the Barnesville competition team for the OVAC Championship are seniors Sydney Baum, Brianna Leach, Jenna Grear and Ashley Brown; juniors Cara Singleton, Hannah Burkhart, Kiley Ciroli and Morgan Burghy; and the lone sophomore Heaven Farnesworth, with no freshmen on the roster.

"All of the girls are very passionate about this sport," Leach said.

"They have pushed themselves during practice and have given me their all, all year round. I am very proud of them and no matter what the results are, they are No. 1 in my book."
