John G. Weigand Jr., 74, of Proctor, WV, passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family throughout his illness.
Born September 4, 1951, in Wheeling, WV, John was the son of the late John and Cleo (Simmons) Weigand. He was a graduate of Cameron High School and spent his career as a dedicated coal miner with Consol Energy, from which he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Paul Weigand.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Hohman) Weigand; his son, John Weigand III of Proctor, WV; his daughter, Sarah (Eric) Chrisman of Winchester, VA; his cherished granddaughters, Taylor and Avery; and sister, Mary Ann (Wayne) Goddard of New Martinsville, WV.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, and the deep integrity with which he lived his life. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, WV with Rosary Devotions at 7pm.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 2nd at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 64 Frohnapfel Lane, Proctor, WV with Fr. Joseph Abraham as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
