WHEELING -- Tonight Artworks Around Town celebrates the European artists of the Journee de Peinture who have been the group's honored guests for the week.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 27, Salwa Mollon from France and Christoph Trommer from Germany will present a brief overview of influences of art in their own lives. A question and answer session will follow. After the talk there will be a reception with music provided by Patrick and Diane Coughlin.

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome to come and enjoy this free event.

At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, awards will be presented to the winners of the Ohio Valley Plein Air Paint Out. Refreshments will be available, and everyone is welcome to attend this free event celebrating the week's winners.

The paintings created during the time in the field will be on display and for sale the entire month of October. This is a perfect opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind painting of the beautiful Ohio Valley.

Janet Sheehan and Eric Dye have collaborated to make this joint venture possible. This has involved planning that began as soon as last year's event ended. Host families had to be found for the European guests, dinners and receptions had to be scheduled, painting sites determined and weather forecasts watched closely.

Artworks thanks them for their tireless efforts. Artworks is a non profit fine art gallery serving the people of the Ohio Valley. The Gallery is open six days a week from Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Starting at /week.
