Sean Carney’s Blues For a Cure 2024 Set in Harrison County

CADIZ -- Live music returns to The Mark Stage at Sally Buffalo Park in Cadiz this weekend for a good cause as Blues for a Cure kicks off tonight.

MPLX Gathering and Processing presents the 13th Annual Sean Carney's Blues For A Cure 2024 - Harrison County. This free public concert will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, June 28, and will continue on Saturday, June 29, with music beginning at 4 p.m. The Mark Stage at Sally Buffalo Park is located at 43000 Industrial Park Road in Cadiz.

Proceeds from the event benefit WVU Harrison Community Hospital Foundation and the Harrison County Cancer Crusaders.

Since inception, this annual charity concert event has raised nearly $300,000 for the local area. Blues For A Cure, has raised over $400,000 since Sean Carney started the fund in 2007. This is the fourth year the event is a two-night concert and will be hosted on the newly constructed outdoor stage, The Mark at The Park.

Headlining the event is Sean Chambers & Savoy Brown Rhythm Section. Fresh off of opening for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and bringing his own style of edgy blues is Scotty Bratcher with special guests Noah Hunt of the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and Noah Wotherspoon. Of course, sitting in and sharing emcee duties will be event namesake, 2007 IBC Guitar Champion Sean Carney. Always paying tribute to local talent, the concert will also feature Miss Freddye's Blues Band out of Pittsburgh, and Jake Friel from Canton.

This Blues For A Cure concert will serve as the CD Release of "Blues Cures 15," the 15th CD in the series of Live Studio Jams with the artists who've been a part of our concerts over the years. Among the artists featured on this release along with Carney are Bart Walker, Cleveland Frederick and southern blues super group Southern Hospitality with BMA nominated lineup of Victor Wainwright, JP Soars, Damon Fowler, Terrance Grayson and Chris Peet. The CDs will be available as a free gift for a minimum $10 donation.

This event is BYOB.

Food, water and soda will be available for purchase from on site food vendors. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, sun tents and blankets.

Friday's events feature an all acoustic performance by Sean Carney and Jake Friel from 6-7:15 p.m., followed by Scotty Bratcher from 7:15-8:30 p.m. All three of the musicians will close the night from 9-10 p.m.

On Saturday, full electric bands get things going with Miss Freddy's Blues Band featuring Carney from 4:-5:30 p.m., Scotty Bratcher Band featuring Noah Hunt and Noah Wotherspoon from 6-8 p.m., announcements and a live auction from 8-8:45 p.m., Sean Chambers & Savoy Brown Rhythem Section from 8:45-10:15 p.m. and a jam session hosted by Carney from 10:15-11 p.m.
