WHEELING -- The third annual Backyard BBQ Festival, presented by The Glessner Group, is gearing up for a sizzling summer celebration this weekend.

Platinum country music sensation Rodney Atkins will headline on Saturday, May 25, at Oglebay's Camp Russel. The festival, kicking off today, Friday, May 24, and continuing through Sunday, May 26, promises a delightful blend of tantalizing food, refreshing beer and bourbon, electrifying live music, and showcase of top-notch barbeque from across the nation.

Open to all, Oglebay's Backyard BBQ Festival at Levenson Shelter is a must-attend summer extravaganza. Tickets for Rodney Atkins performance are available at oglebay.com/backyardBBQ.

"This signature summer event has something for everyone," said Bob Peckenpaugh, president and CEO of the Wheeling Park Commission. "The last two years have been a lot of fun, and we are excited to bring this event back for the third year in a row. We're grateful to The Glessner Group for their generous sponsorship, which enables us to provide exceptional entertainment for our guests and our community."

An exciting addition to this year's festival lineup is the Grill 'n Gears Truck Show on Sunday, May 26, starting at 10 a.m. Trucks can be entered for the prestigious "Best in Show" or the "Rev It Up" category for the most thunderous engine. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Levenson Shelter.

"We love kicking off the summer in the valley this way," Gary W. Glessner, president of The Glessner Group, said. "We always have a lot of fun, and this year promises to be even better. We are certainly looking forward to it."

The festival guarantees an array of weekend-long activities, from barbeque and bourbon showcases to a "little piggies" kids' fun zone and live performances by Tammy Jo and Iron Horse, Gage Joseph, Devon Allen Johnson, Ruff Creek, AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck and others.
