The Moundsville-Marshall County Library will take part in National Library Week, April 7-13. Special events will be held during the week. On April 8th at 6 p.m., West Virginia historical character "Mary Lydia Weaver Sapp: A daughter and wife of the Civil War," will be performed by storyteller Jo Ann Daidsman. On April 9th at 6 p.m., the film "The Boys in the Boat", a bio-drama centered on a Depression-era rowing team will be shown. On April 10th at 5 p.m., Pittsburgh Puppet works will present a puppet show title "Inky's Library Mystery." There will able be a preschool story time at 11 a.m. on April 11, and a book club will meet at 6 p.m. on April 15th.

This Monday, April 8, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the next Lawyer in School clinic will be held at the Marshall County Board of Education Office. The event is sponsored by Legal Aid of West Virginia. Eligible parents or caregivers of Marshall County students can receive free, legal information or advice from a lawyer. For more information call 304-232-1260, ext. 3223.

The Marshall County Family Resource Network's general membership meeting will be held online at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Those taking part will share information and learn about activities and programs going on in the community. Participants will have an opportunity to briefly discuss their organization and updates. The FRN meets quarterly with the 3rd quarter meeting scheduled for July 9th.

The April meeting of the Marshall County Association of Retired School Employees will be held on Thursday, April 11 at the Guest House Restaurant in Moundsville, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tom Hart will be the speaker. The community service project is to bring items for the Marshall County Animal Shelter and/or personal care items for the military.

The Marshall County Historical Society recently installed its new officers for this year at its annual meeting held at the Strand Theatre. Joe Geiger, formerly of the History and Arts Commission in Charleston, spoke on the topic of Marshall County individuals who have achieved state and national fame. New officers installed were: Michael Holt, President; Gary Rider, Vice-President; Andrea Keller, Secretary; Bonnie Mueller, Treasurer; Nila Chaddock, Past President; Board Members, Dan Butler, Nanetta Hartley, Dave Robbins, and Tanner Skym.
The Historical Society Museum on Thirteenth Street and Lockwood Avenue will be open through the summer and information about the hours is available by calling the Cockayne Farmstead. Donations to the Museum may be made by calling the Farmstead or president Michael Holt. Anyone wishing to join the society may also reach out to the Farmstead. There are many events in the near future that are in need of volunteers to help with the events. The April 13th program featuring Sean McCracken of the Mysterious WV YouTube Channel has been cancelled. The presenter has been impacted by the recently flooding and will not be able to visit the Northern Panhandle at this time. It is hopefully that the event can be rescheduled.

Three programs were among matters presented by Moundville City Manager, Rick Healy, at this past week's meeting. Included were those involving a Rental Registration Program (RRP), OnTrac Experts, and the Stormwater Department. Healy stated that letters have been mailed to the RRP adding that a good start in registration had been received. The first public meeting will take place at 9:00 a.m. on April 9th. He stated the Ontrac Experts site will be on April 24th. More information will be available after April 16th. The Ontrac Experts will include: walking tour of downtown commercial, meeting with the sponsoring organization, meeting with City Department heads, meeting with County and Regional Economic Development Officials, meeting with Historic Preservation, meeting with other community leaders, and an open house. The Stormwater Department is sponsoring a little clean up on April 20th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Annual Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert series will be held on May 24, June 14, June 28, July 5 (two locations), and July 12. The May 24th event will be held at Grand Vue Park from 7-9 p.m. with a performance by the group "Pocket Change." On July 14th from 7-9 p.m., oldies, classic rock and a Capella music will be performed by 40+ Band. On June 28 Logan Wojcik will perform county music from 7-9 p.m. at Benwood City Park. On July 5th a variety of music will be performed at the McMechen Riverfront from 7-9 p.m. Also on July 5th from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Tammy Jo and Iron Horse will play 70s, 80s, and 90s music at the Cameron VFD. The last day of the concert series will be a variety of songs by Unique Suspects from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Glen Dale Park.
