Launched in January 2023, Cockayne's traveling trunk program has continued to grow this year. Last year the program featured two trunks -- one covering life during the Victorian Era, and one focused on WWII local history. This year Cockayne has completed various visits in surrounding schools. Several schools that got a visit came to the farmhouse on field trips.
There are several upcoming events at the Marshall County Historical Society and Cockayne Farmstead. This Monday, March 18, a banquet to be held at the Strand Theatre will introduce new board members and the 2024 History Heroes, Gene Gray and Terry Williamson. Joe Gieger will give a presentation "Small Yet Mighty: Marshall County's Oversized Impact on American History." On March 30 there will be an open house at the History Museum located at 301 13th St. There are new displays and artifacts as well as yearbooks and genealogy information on display.

The 10th annual "Baking for Hope Bingo" sponsored by Team Limestone for Angels and Survivors will be held April 13 at the Limestone Community Building. The event will offer fun and fellowship while supporting the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Marshall County. The entry will cost $5 for one card. The doors will open at noon for lunch. "Explore the New Manufacturing" recently announced the winners of the Explore Student Video Contest, Northern region. Middle schools teams were judged on the creation of a three-minute video about their manufacturing partner, the employees, and aspects of the company. The first-place recipients of the Best Manufacturing Message Award was Moundsville Middle for their video about Tecnocap. Team members include Olivia Wyatt, Nathan Hughes, Leo Nguyen, Kaylee Seese, Kaydyn McGilton, Jordan Richards, Faith Clutter, Kingsley Zheng, Apollo Miller, Emily McBee, Emilyn Richards, Ava Coulter, Coltin Myers and Christian Dalton. Kimberly Ghaphery was the education leader. The Tecnocap team consisted of Richard Smith, Carlos Molina Hernandez, and Michael Anthony.

Marshall County students are currently showcasing their artistic talents at the 42nd annual Marshall County School Art Show at the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex in Moundsville. The exhibits features a variety of artwork including paintings, drawings, photography, and sculptures. Best in Show for the high school division when John Marshall Student, Noelle Fyock and Bailey Sebroski. Best in Show in the middle school division went to Moundsville Middle students Jessie Nguyen and Aubrey Moloski. The People's Choice Award in the high school division went to Fyock and Cameron High Student Ava Lemasters. In the middle school division the People Choice Awards went to Moundville Middle School students Reagan Ali and Katie Sweeney. The exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturdays from now until April 4. The Marshall County Student Art Show is coordinated by Cameron High Art teacher Amanda Jenree with assistance from students in the school's art club. Jenree's mother, Vickie, started the art show in 1982.
