WHEELING -- Mystery Theatre Unlimited will present its Christmas musical comedy murder mystery dinner theatre show, "Slay Ride Five -- CSI: North Pole," at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, at River City Restaurant in Wheeling.
The family-friendly original comedy features musical parodies and interactive opportunities for audience members, along with a mystery to solve, all in the context of a full meal.
In the original musical-comedy show, it is Christmas Eve and Santa Claus faces a deadline to sign on a new labor agreement. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer locks antlers with Santa's chief of staff, an ambitious corporate-minded MBA elf intent on modernizing the North Pole. Meanwhile, two former cops on a mission to be redeemed and reinstated arrive just in time for a murder.
Several audience members will be chosen to play small parts in the show. All audience members are encouraged to gather and share clues and to question suspects. The characters will interact with the audience in an unscripted pre-show mingle.
The cast includes Sean Decker, Dustin Heavilin, Butch Maxwell, Evan Oslund and Renee Storm.
The Wheeling-based ensemble has been writing and performing original comedy murder mysteries since 1996. Performances include audience interaction and the opportunity to solve a murder mystery, along with a two-course buffet, and take place in a dining room, with actors moving among the tables.
