Artworks Holiday Show and Sale Ushers in Holiday Season

WHEELING -- The annual Holiday Show and Sale at Artworks Around Town with The Gallery Hop from 5:30-8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 3, ushers in the season.
A special event takes place this month as well. Astrophotographer James Luke and Artworks member Jeff Mamone will present a forum and talk about their work in capturing images of outer space. Their presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Luke has been studying outer space since he received his first telescope at age 11. Over the years, with the addition of more sophisticated equipment and camera, he documented his spectacular observations in the form of metal prints, some of which he will have with him at the presentation. Mamone has been a long standing member and officer of Artworks Around Town. He is a man of many interests, all of which he pursues with dedication and thoroughness. They will begin their presentation with a forum and talk and will welcome questions.
Member artists have been working on pieces of art which will be for sale during the months of November and December. Paintings, jewelry and fabric art will be displayed in the Studio Gallery. Our Lady of Peace will be placing artwork in mid November in the Student Gallery.
There will be handmade ornaments on the Artworks tree which may be purchased with proceeds going to the WVU Children's Hospital in Morgantown.
The Holiday sale is a wonderful place to purchase original art and one of a kind works for special gift giving needs. The Centre Market is a beautiful setting to enjoy a cup of coffee, a baked treat and shopping in lovely informal surroundings.
Artworks Around Town is a nonprofit art and education center located in Wheeling's Historic Centre Market. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. six days a week from Monday through Saturday.
