Students in Cameron's Design and Fashion Class, taught by Holly Pettit, recently donated mastectomy pillows to the WVU Medicine Cancer Center at Wheeling Hospital. The class came up with the idea for Breast Cancer Awareness Month both to help bring attention to the fight again the disease and to honor a classmate's mother who recently battled breast cancer. The students created the pillows from scratch using techniques and styles they learned in class.

The 8th Annual Cameron High School College and Career Fair took place this past Tuesday in the school's gymnasium. There were more than 40 vendors at the event representing colleges and universities, military, trades, and businesses. Posts-secondary institutions including West Liberty University, West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling University, and Bethany College were represented. Students in grades nine through 12, as well as community members, had the opportunity to attend the event.

During a Special Assembly on Monday morning, West Virginia Curator of the Arts Randall Reid-Smith and Chiho Feindler, senior director of programs and policy for the Save the Music Foundation, presented the Cameron High School Band with a $40,000 grant. The band is under the direction of Christian Oliver. The grant was made possible by the Save the Music Foundation, which partners will public school districts to donate grants in the form of new musical instruments, technology, equipment, and other resources.

According to City Manager Rick Healy, the Moundsville Water Board, at a recent meeting, heard presentations from three engineering firms for an upcoming project. The firms have been ranked and pricing negotiation will begin soon. The proposed project will include new storage tanks and multiple water line replacements throughout the city.

A Spaghetti Dine-in or Take-out Dinner, sponsored by the Moundsville Lions Club, will be held from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 10th at the Moundville Presbyterian Church on Third Street and Washington Avenue. Donation amounts are adult $10 and children $7.

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce recently announced that education and community arts advocate, Kathleen Fox, will be the Grand Marshal at the 53rd Annual Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.
Fox is a graduate of John Marshall High School and has been named WV Society for General Music Teacher of the Year, Marshall County Schools Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for West Virginia Teacher of the Year.
She has served as a board member of the West Virginia Music Education Association for the past 12 years, serving as president from 2015-17. She was honored with a certificate of recognition from Gov. Jim Justice in 2022 for her advocacy efforts in the music field. Fox has written numerous grants securing musical instruments and instruction tools for classrooms in Marshall County and currently teaches General and Vocal Music at Glen Dale Elementary School.
The parade is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18.

The 15th Annual Turkey Trot will take place at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 23 at Grand Vue Park. All proceeds will benefit the Kids to Grand Vue Fund under Grand Vue Park Foundation..
Entry fee is $25 and T-Shirts will be guaranteed to participants that register on or before Nov. 14

The annual Marshall County Fall Dumpster clean-up will conclude on Nov. 4. The two locations will be Sherrard Elementary and Limestone -VFD Headquarters.
The hours at both locations will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All county residents are welcome to use either location.
