WHEELING -- This month the Studio Gallery at Artworks if full of beautiful landscapes painted by over 20 artists who participated in the third annual Ohio Valley Plein Air Paint Out.

The Gallery Hop is a free public reception taking place from 5:30-8 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 6. Join us to celebrate the artists who created these beautiful works. Painters converged on four areas of the valley to capture scenes in pastel, acrylic watercolor and oil. They gathered at Sandscrest, Moundsville, Oglebay and the Centre Market with brushes, paint and easels.

Paint Out founder Eric Dye with the help of Meg Geroch and other Artworks members put together a five-day event resulting in paintings by professional artists, Sunday painters as well as many students. Young painters from Marshall County Schools participated this year.

Their works are displayed in the North Gallery.

Professor Dr. Yan Sun of Muskingum University judged the show and awarded cash prizes and ribbons to nine participants.

Student winners are: Bailey Sebroski, first place; Shyanna Reynoldsburg, second place; and third place was awarded to Ash Walters. In the adult category, winners are: best in show, Marian Sallade; first place, Gina Judy; second place, Patricia Young; and third place, Dye.

Visit the Gallery to view and purchase many original works by more than 20 artists who create art as well as work at the desk every day. Workshops are ongoing and very popular.
