Join ArtsLink and the Missoula Children's Theatre this Saturday, July 29, when a cast of local students present an original musical adaptation of "The Princess and the Pea." The show will be performed by area children at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville.
Charrey Honkanen and Timothy Loosararian are the tour directors for the MCT performance. Honkanen attended Ball State University as well as the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, receiving her bachelor's in theater from UWGB. Loosararian is pursuing a degree in theater with a track in musical theater. He was born in Columbia, Maryland and raised in Middletown, Delaware.
Throughout its 40-plus-year existence, the Missoula Children's Theatre International Tour has fostered developmental life skills in more than a million kids. Locally, children entering first through 12th grades auditioned Monday, July 24, then reported for daily rehearsals until curtain time on July 29.
The residency in New Martinsville, sponsored by Fawn and Jim Price and St. Ann's Episcopal Church, is made possible by ArtsLink with help from the City of New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Department, West Virginia Northern Community College, WETZ/WYMJ Radio, the Wetzel-Tyler Chamber of Commerce, Riesbeck's Supermarket, the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
MCT is supported by the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the state of Montana. Grant funding application has been made to Hope Gas Foundation.
Reserved tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. Credit cards will be accepted and all tickets are available at the door.
