Sound and Fury in Morgantown

"Apple and Oranges."

"Generalities, generalities, generalities."

Put those two together and what do they describe?

Basically, the arguments put forth in comparing WVU schedules of different times in sports (basketball and football in the main) and leaving out all of the variables of the times compared!

Both sports have many variables that influence the results in their time periods!

The current time period, which started a couple of years ago and has too little data at this point in time to allow any serious judgments as to its relativity to other time periods, has a very significant alteration not previously encountered (honestly by all), in the NIL and PORTAL introductions!

Teams, such as WVU, now can HONESTLY compete on the market for athletes!

It's yet to be seen as to if there are any major impacts or changes to the football side of the coin as there seems to have already occurred in basketball. The quantity of players involved might be the decider with much fewer needed in basketball!

So, in the above case, even with no consideration of other obvious variables as starters that exist, comparing results of this time period to any of the previous ones is the fruit situation!

In previous time periods things like league association, strength of schedules, recruiting successes, etc etc ad nauseam!

And, in any discussion of success or anything, it MUST be defined as starters or it's an exercise in worthless banter at best!

Generalities, generalities, generalities!

Or as Shakespeare did in Macbeth,

"Sound and fury, signifying nothing"!!

Let's go Neal! Go Mountaineers!
