Expel Santos From U.S. House

Editor, News-Register:

It appears that recently elected Republican Congressman George Santos, who has been chosen by voters to represent the Long Island district of New York, almost completely fabricated his personal and professional resume in order to curry voters' support, to the extent of which unquestionably had never occurred previously in the history of our great nation. However, upon the recent aforementioned revelations, many elected officials as well as the public in general are now requesting that he resign or be systematically removed from office.

Sadly, the biography that Mr. Santos provided to the electorate is nothing short of pure fantasy with very little, if any, basis in reality whatsoever. Examples include Rep. Santos, who hails from a district with a significant Jewish population, stating during his campaign that "his grandparents were Jewish and fled from Ukraine to Brazil in order to escape from Nazi persecution circa World War II," which was discovered to be totally false, as it has been reported that Santos has no Jewish heritage at all.

In addition, he fabricated that he had graduated from an elite private high school and had attended two colleges, none of which had any record that he had ever attended, as well as it's been reported that Mr. Santos has held prominent positions of employment with prestigious businesses, such as Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, which were also found to be mere fabrications.

Also, Mr. Santos has stated that his mother's death was as a result of the terrorist attacks on our great nation on Sept. 11, 2001; that he had started an animal rescue charity; donated $700,000 to his election campaign; and his claim that he is "worth millions of dollars in assets," all of which have been proven to be false.

It is most unfortunate, indeed, that the aforementioned facts were not discovered and revealed prior to the election as voters who had supported Mr. Santos may well have voted otherwise.

If Mr. Santos is somehow permitted to remain in his elected position, it would set a very dangerous precedent in future elections. Therefore, if Mr. Santos continues to refuse to resign, he should be expelled from the United States House of Representatives by a vote of its membership, and an election should soon thereafter take place giving the voters of that district a legitimate representative of whom they can be proud.
