In recent memory, our council and mayor have created numerous positions. After our city manager's problems, an assistant manager position was created and then a spokesperson for the police department, and now a diversity position and another that I can't think of (a homeless liaison).
Why does the police department need a spokesperson? Our police chief doesn't seem to have speaking problems.
For a community that is losing population why do we have to keep making new positions?
Also now they're looking to spend a few million for free home repair, some of which will go to undeserving people. Whatever happened to enforcing laws and making people take care of their property? Why should taxpayers be made to give free aid to people?
It seems all this administration wants do is spend, spend, spend. Let property owners be made to take care of their own property!
Why should council be involved in taking care of private property?
Give it a rest.
This includes downtown, make owners raze or repair.
Recently they put in a $2 weekly fee for people employed in Wheeling. Watch out, before you know it, it will be increased.
Enough is enough!
