CHARLESTON - Desperate for more West Virginians to get their COVID-19 vaccines, Gov. Jim Justice announced details Friday for a third COVID-19 vaccine incentive prize giveaway.
"We'll try to incentivize more and more to get across the finish line," Justice said during his Friday COVID-19 briefing from the State Capitol Building. "We've got to get our young people vaccinated."
Over a six-week period starting with registration on Monday, Aug. 23 and selection of winners starting Aug. 31, Justice said the state will give out new prizes for residents who have been vaccinated with at least the first dose of the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
For the latest round of the vaccine incentive lottery, prizes will include 30 full scholarships for the state's public colleges and universities, with five awards given every week for residents between the ages of 12 and 25.
Other prizes open to all residents include a high-end luxury sports car, four ATVs/side-by-sides or a zero-turn riding lawnmower, one custom fishing boat or pontoon boat per month, a $150,000 dream wedding per week, and free gasoline for 10 years to two residents per week, six season ticket packages to West Virginia University and Marshall University sporting events, and five season ski lift tickets every week.
