Ohio, Marshall and Hancock counties were "red" on Saturday's West Virginia Department of Education school re-entry map. Brooke, Wetzel and Tyler all were "orange" on the map.
What that means is that all students from Hancock to Tyler counties will be on remote learning again this week.
For Marshall County, this marks the sixth consecutive week students have been on remote learning. In Ohio County, it marks week five of remote learning for all students, and week six for students at Wheeling Middle School
The school map already has led to a number of area schools seeing their seasons end off the field due to COVID-19 rates, as Oak Glen, Wheeling Park, Wheeling Central and John Marshall all were eliminated from the playoffs by forfeit.
On the daily West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 map released Saturday morning all Northern Panhandle counties with the exception of Marshall were "orange." Marshall County remained red on that map.
Statewide, a dozen counties are red on the school re-entry map. Along with Ohio, Marshall and Hancock, red counties are Barbour, Berkeley, Grant, Mason, Mineral, Wayne, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming.
Orange counties outside of Brooke, Wetzel and Tyler are Boone, Cabell, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Morgan, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Preston, Putnam, Ritchie and Upshur.
Gold counties are Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Mingo, Pleasants and Roane.
Yellow counties are Lincoln, Logan, Marion, McDowell, Monongalia, Monroe, Raleigh and Taylor.
Green counties are Braxton, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Lewis, Mercer, Pendleton, Randolph, Summers, Tucker and Webster.
