Ohio County on Friday moved into the yellow designation on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources County Alert Map, as 68 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Monday through Thursday.

The county actually is red in terms of infection rate; however, the percent positivity of 3.26 keeps it in yellow.

Ohio County currently has an outbreak at Peterson Rehabilitation Center, with 21 residents and nine staff currently positive. There also have been cases at local schools and West Liberty University, with Wheeling Central moving to remote learning this week as Wheeling Park returned to classes Thursday.

Much like Ohio County, Marshall County has an infection rate that would put it in red without the percent positivity statistic.

Schools in Cameron are currently closed, and Friday’s first home football game for Cameron High School against Bridgeport has been canceled due to COVID.

Marshall County has reported 56 new confirmed COVID-19 cases this week, along with additional probable cases.
